Vivien Devaney-Frice
Executive Director & Camp Director
Vivien grew up spending summers at Camp Natoma as a camper and Camp Fire kid, then eventually as a CIT and counselor. Her favorite class was Archery and one of her favorite camp traditions is the Serial at Evening Fire. Vivien earned a BA at Notre Dame, an MA at Warwick University, and is pursuing a PhD in Human Development. She has worked in the nonprofit field for almost a decade, supporting programs in education, intimate partner violence prevention and crisis response, restorative justice, and mental health. Vivien is also a Postpartum Doula and believes strongly in helping families build community and connect with nature. One of her favorite spots outside of Camp Natoma is the tide pools at Estero Bluffs! Vivien loves spending summers at Camp Natoma because it truly is the camp of her dreams!
Carl Dupuis

Carl has 18 years of Camp Natoma experience first as a camper, CIT, counselor, volunteer, and now back as an administrator and driver of the Amotan Express! They are a certified California Naturalist and enjoys sharing their wisdom and appreciation for the outdoor world with kids at camp. Carl loves every piece of Natoma, from the quiet stillness found by Franklin Creek after a hard day of maintenance work in the spring to the resounding echo of campers singing songs during evening fire. Their favorite part of camp is PJ breakfast!

Board of Directors
Miranda Thompson
President - San Miguel
Born and raised on the Central Coast, Miranda lives in San Miguel with her husband on their small ranch, home to three dogs, two goats, and countless chickens. They enjoy gardening on their land and restoring their ranch house.
Miranda has been involved with Camp Natoma for nearly 30 years—beginning as a camper, then spending many summers as a counselor and archery instructor. She moved on to join the director team, led the Counselor-in-Training program, and continues to give back as both an alumni volunteer and president of the board. She is passionate about getting children out into nature and cherishes the lifelong connections and confidence that camp experiences bring.
In addition to her long-standing commitment to Camp Natoma, Miranda spent 15 years working in special education for San Luis Coastal Unified School District. She now serves as the VP of Quality Control in Wine Club and Compliance for Le Cuvier Winery.
Miranda has a big heart and a deep love for her home on the Central Coast.
Kirstin Wojtowicz
Treasurer - Pacifica
Kirstin has been enjoying summers at Camp Natoma since 1993 as camper in Sheltering Oak and enjoyed 4 summers a counselor during her college years. She loves the smell of the oak trees and falling asleep under the stars, but her favorite part of camp is the Polar Bear Swim!
Kirstin grew up in Arroyo Grande and graduated from UCLA in 2008 with a degree in Environmental Studies. She soon began working for the family pencil business, General Pencil Company. She lives the Bay Area with her husband and 2 children. She is honored to be a part Camp Natoma and is excited for her children to experience this magical camp experience for years to come.
Wayne Dengate
Board Member - San Luis Obispo
An oven stops working. The water supply is interrupted. A solar electric generation plant needs to be designed and installed. Who're you gonna call? Wayne Dengate. Wayne has been installing water and electrical systems and fixing broken things at Camp Natoma for decades. And decades. He began his volunteer service to the (then) Camp Fire Girls camp in 1961. A true life Natoma love story, he met his future wife, Roberta, while working as a maintenance man at camp. Together, they raised 4 children in San Luis Obispo. Today, Wayne enjoys 3 grandchildren as well. He served our country in the Air Force as an aircraft maintenance Sergeant, and had a productive 34 year career with Western Electric, AT&T, and Lucent Technologies. Wayne would like to see more young families of current Camp Natoma campers get involved with the maintenance and development of the camp in the off-season.

Justine Lowry
Board Member - San Luis Obispo
Justine has been part of the Camp Natoma family since the summer after 7th grade in 2009, when she first arrived under the oak trees with her best friend and instantly found her happy place. She spent five unforgettable summers as a camper, completed the CIT program, and went on to serve on staff for five years before becoming a dedicated volunteer—never missing a single summer. Camp has been a grounding, joy-filled constant in her life, and she is thrilled to deepen her connection by serving on the Board of Directors. Justine is honored to give back to the community that shaped her and is excited to help ensure that generations of future campers experience the same magic that Camp Natoma has given her.
